The goal of our safety policy is to reduce the incidence of injuries to our customers, others and ourselves.
- Staff will encourage customers to wear helmets at all times and remind them that they are obliged to wear a helmet by law.
- We will not sell anyone a bicycle that is not suitable for the purpose for which the customer intends to use it.
- We will not sell anyone a bicycle that because of its size would be dangerous for the cyclist to ride.
- We will provide an Owner’s Manual to customers buying new bikes.
- Since the quality of our work can affect the safety of our customers, we will perform work to the highest standard.
- Every bike that we work on must be in correct mechanical order before it leaves our store.
- If a customer is not willing for us to do all the work that we feel is required to make their bike safe to ride we will respectfully decline to work on their bike.
- Unless requested by the customer, we will equip reflectors and a bell on each bike we sell (except for 12” bikes which are not classified as vehicles).
- Every bike we sell must be checked over before it leaves our store – whether it is being purchased or is being test ridden.
- We will advise customers that for their own safety they should take advantage of the free service(s) offered with each new bike.
- We will advise customers that as a bicycle is “run in” the bicycle will require adjustments and tightening to keep it in correct mechanical order.
- We will advise people who may ride between dusk and dawn that lights are required by law (in addition to reflectors) and that we recommend that customers purchase the best lights they can afford.
- We will help adjust any helmet for any cyclist for no charge.
- We will instruct any cyclist and all new bike buyers in the correct use of quick release wheels.
- We will provide safety tips to customers who may be using equipment for the first time (such as clipless pedals and aerobars).
- We will safety check any bicycle for free.
- We advocate and will practice safe cycling including wearing of helmets and obeying traffic laws when we ride.
- We will be courteous to all people riding bikes whether we are driving, cycling or walking.
