“Gee Ken! Renegade Cycles has a bike
to go with every one of Barbie’s outfits!”

Well actually it doesn’t quite work like that in bike land.  Start with the bike first then accessorise.  Think dress, then the shoes.  Think car, then the CD player.  Whether you want to just feel your way and get the basics or get right into it from the start, we can help you select from our great range of accessories.

Here are a few golden rules:

Giro Atmos Buy a helmet that fits you and one that is well ventilated.  They all meet the Australian Standard but some are safer than others.  The more you pay, the better they are.

Kickstands are our No 1 selling accessory.  It’s a simple form of protecting your investment when you’ve got a recreational bike.

A floor pump to a bicycle is like a microwave to a kitchen.  What a convenience!

Lights are right at night.

Renegade Bidons It gets hot in Sydney.  Get a water bottle and cage or two (or hydration pack).

Bike carriers can give you access to the ever-expanding network of Australia’s on-road and off-road cycling facilities.

Shoes 01Everything changes when you ride more than an hour at a time.  Cycling knicks, jerseys, gloves, nutritional products, better saddles, clipless pedals and shoes are all great investments.  Don’t delay!  You’ll wonder why you ever waited once you make the leap.

Cycle computers are a great way to keep track of your achievements.  They give you lots of useless information (in the big scheme of things) that becomes interesting and awe-inspiring at dinner parties.  When Gidget wants a gadget, this is the one.

At the other end of the spectrum, integrated cycle computers and heart rate monitors are a great way to monitor your health and performance.  With names like Flight Deck, Ergo Brain, and so on you’ll need to remember to watch the road too.

Great tyres are needed for a great ride.  Spend up and feel the difference.

BooksTaxi or fix it yourself?  Renegade Cycles or service it yourself?  We have a great range of accessories, spares and tools if you want to be self-sufficient.

Accessories are a lot of fun and they really add to the ride and your enjoyment.

It's always great to see someone decide on a bike in three minutes and then take as long to colour coordinate the water bottle cage.  And that's the simplest accessory choice of the day!  You know they're going to put a lot of thought into all of the add-ons and wind up loving it.
